I spent the better part of the week, sorting through various knit mags looking for a project for Ebony Elite Kal. My mind is set on a vest project, and lo & behold I received my Spring 2008 Interweave Knit mag yesterday, which features some delectable knits, and a fab article on finshing. I have my sights on this beauty, the Aleita Shell. I was thinking of substituting yarn using what I have in my stash, which are Cashmere/Alpaca yarn and Silky wool, and know I would have to do some serious gauge checking, but on the other hand after reading through the instructions several times, I feeling somewhat skeptical, and honestly thinking I should look for something in my league... but a girl can dream.... right....lol
Also, I've been doing a lot of reading, sew trying to get a better grip on sewing....lol. I got 5 great Thread Magazines from Ebay, which are very resourceful.. and looking forward to returning to the sewing table. The
Jackets, Coats and Suits takes you through various jacket styles & cuts, featuring techinques used by designers, such as Armani, Miyake and Dior.
Fit and Fabric focuses on adapting patterns or copying your favorite clothes to sewing with knits.
Great Knits, helps you expand on your knitting skills with techniques for designing a garment and helpful basic techniques to refresh.
Distinctive Details provdes a wealth of information on handsewing to embellishing, and lastly
Fit Your Figure guides you through the process of understanding the shape of our bodies, adjustments and alterations. Now that I'm loaded with a handful of resourceful books, I should be able to return to the sewing table with a lil more umph...lol.

On the knitting front, I've been doing some freestyle knitting and just enjoying the randomness of it and since I'm on a vest kick, decided to do another vest. I'm trying to use up my acrylic stash and using
Caron 1lb yarn in Lace and
Caron Simply Soft in Grey Heather. Talk about total randomness, I started this project in the round and then divided for the front and completed it and now continuing the back with the Grey Heather. I would like to trim out the V-neck with the grey heather as well.

Would like to know what Kal and/or Cal you are participating in.

Hey Sheila! I will be doing the Ebony Elite KCAL too! I will be making a cowl caplet. I will post the photo on my blog later.
You are on a vest kick I see. I like the interweave knit magazine. Very nice. I checked the interweave crochet one yesterday and I didn't see much I was interested personally. I can't wait to see your new project. Looks like a good one!
Gurl I so need to catch up on some knit reading to increase my skill knowledge!
Of course I am doing the E.E. KCAL, but I am also doing the Malabrigo Loafer KAL that I started up on Ravelry too that would double serve as my knit group slipper KAL ;op
I am sure I will be doing more KALs soon as that is what keeps me going!
The vest looks great. I got my Spring IK magazine and there are several nice projects that caught my eye as well.
Looks like you got some great books from ebay!! I need to find something to knit lol
I did end up having a lot of yarn didn't I? And one would think I'd know what to do with it all but now I have MORE than I need. Not fair :( Anyway, looks like you've got some goodies! I love getting knitting resource books. :) Can't wait till interweave is on the STANDS so i can buy it!!! (And thank you, for your compliment on my tree jacket !) Can't wait to see your vest!!
Thanks for stopping by, I've spent the better part of the weekend working up the latest vest and now need to surf the web on picking up stitches, I want to add grey to the bottom and along the neck. Better yet, I should be surfing for a pattern in my league for the EE Kal...lol
Nice job...will stay tuned to see the complete project. You worked that one up rather quick.
I think I'm going to do the Surplice Bodice Camisole for my knit-along. Would be nice to do something I could wear now, but may as well get the Summer knits done now than be working on them in the Summer.
No KALs or PALs for me. I can't seem to complete anything lately.
Your vest looks wonderful!!
